Infiniti Cars Australia expands retails centres… Today signalled the next stage in its local growth plans by announcing the appointment of its second authorised Retail Centre in Sydney and its first authorised Service Centre in Adelaide.

The premium automotive brand has confirmed Infiniti Centre Castle Hill, Infiniti’s second authorised dealer in Sydney, will commence operations under Automotive Holdings Group (AHG), Australia’s largest automotive group. AHG will commence sales from its Castle Hill-based Nissan dealership from next month with plans to establish a dedicated Infiniti showroom facility.

Infiniti Centre Castle Hill will provide vehicle sales as well as after-sales customer service and technical support.

Infiniti has selected the important growth area of north-western Sydney for its newest Retail Centre because of its proximity to important cities such as Parramatta, Cherrybrook and Kellyville as well as the wider Hills District. Customers in this region of Australia’s largest city will now be able to choose from Infiniti’s full catalogue of passenger cars, sports cars, crossover and SUV models as well as the premium brand’s trademark premium service and hospitality.

In South Australia, Infiniti has also confirmed the establishment of Infiniti Service Centre North Adelaide, which will deliver the brand’s full suite of aftersales and technical support for Infiniti vehicle owners in the S.A. capital.

Situated in Adelaide’s north, the new facility will be based within Main North Nissan, the city’s largest Nissan dealership.

The establishment of Infiniti Service Centre North Adelaide is an important step in the premium automotive brand’s local development as it will lay the foundations for retail centre expansion in South Australia.

“2016 will be Infiniti’s biggest year so far in Australia,” said Jean-Philippe Roux, Managing Director of Infiniti Cars Australia. “Following the opening of Infiniti Centre Perth, our first authorised dealership in Western Australia, we will open two more important centres: our second Retail Centre in Sydney with Infiniti Centre Castle Hill and our first Service Centre in North Adelaide.

“We have more new retail centres scheduled and, importantly, their commencement dates coincide with the arrival of five new and updated Infiniti models,” he said.

In addition to further growing its Australian retail network, Infiniti’s busy new-model calendar commenced this month with the release of the updated Q70 sedan.

Following in the second half of this year will be three all-new Infiniti models – the Q30 active compact, the QX30 compact crossover, and the Q60 sports coupe, which made its world premiere at last month’s Detroit Auto Show. Completing the year will be the launch of the updated Q50 sedan, which will boast a variety of new features including the availability of a 298kW twin-turbo V6 engine.

Both Infiniti Centre Castle Hill and Infiniti Service Centre North Adelaide will open from early March. Their details are shown below:

Brimming with personality, the Q70 has always been boldly original, standing out from competitors by providing true-blue sport performance with genuine prestige and userfriendly technologies. It has consistently delighted both the enthusiast driver and connoisseur of fine things with Infiniti’s renowned engaging performance that never compromises on ride comfort.

“We know Australian customers in this important new-vehicle segment expect style and prestige,” said Jean-Philippe Roux, the Managing Director of Infiniti Cars Australia. “The 2016 Q70 delivers on all accounts – attention to detail, highly crafted materials, exceptional ride comfort, and superior levels of interior quietness.”

Exterior: Dynamic lines and curves
The refined elegance of the Q70 takes on a new dramatic design which gives the premium sedan an even more upscale image. Its flowing, emotional lines evoke a premium sleekness.

At first glance, the new headlights impress immediately. Infiniti’s signature LED headlights imply inner intelligence and human insight, leaving an unforgettable impression. The distinctive headlights accentuate the new double arch grille, which now takes on a more three-dimensional look due to the elaborate detail of the high-quality waved mesh finish and chrome surround. The same solid feel is echoed in the new front bumper with integrated fog lights, giving the Q70 a dignified presence on road.

From the front, a strong body line rises from the grille, flowing through the side of the body like a wave and blending into the shape of the new rear LED combination lights, forming a compelling profile that highlights the Q70’s sporty stance.

At the rear, the new design of the tail lights creates a horizontal flow in motion while the high-quality lighting signature evokes a fresh and classy image. The top line of the boot lid has been flattened while the rear bumper has been slimmed down to create a longer and lower visual impression, further emphasising the premium sedan’s sporty and powerful styling. The chrome rear finisher adds a touch of class to the entire rear view.

The top-grade S Premium model grade features a specially designed front bumper that gives an even lower and wider stance with its 20-inch wheels and tyres, while the lower part of the rear bumper is finished in high-gloss black paint to make it look even more athletic.

The design of the new Q70 continues to offer enhanced airflow over the body, resulting in zero front and rear lift as well as a low coefficient of drag of just 0.26 for the hybrid, 0.27 for the entry-grade GT version and 0.28 for the S Premium model.

The 2016 Infiniti Q70 is available in eight different exterior colours.

Interior: Premium quality, detailed craftsmanship
Reflecting the sensuous lines of the exterior, the new Infiniti Q70 continues to serve up a well-appointed and inviting interior with high-quality materials such as handcrafted wood accents and custom leather appointments, meticulous craftsmanship and attention to detail, as well as user-centred technologies.

Infiniti has always paid special attention to the driver and, in the new Q70, the interior is designed to “fit like a glove” so that the carefully tailored and crafted cockpit becomes an extension of the driver. Important controls and switches are intuitively located so that the driver does not have to change driving posture to access them.

The instrument panel consists of Fine Vision gauges and a seven-inch full colour vehicle information display, while the driver and front passenger’s seats are leather, heated, and feature 10-way power adjustment, including two-way lumbar support.

The new Q70 is now quieter than before, even at high speeds. Infiniti engineers have added noise insulation materials, increased the sealing, and stiffened the wheels, resulting in a reduction of road noise on urban roads.

The Q70’s boot capacity is 500 litres (350 litres for the Hybrid version) and an auto-close boot lid with soft-closing action is fitted.

The standard-fitment eight-inch high-resolution touch screen and Infiniti Controller make operating the Q70’s in-car information and entertainment system intuitive and simple.

In the GT model grade, a Bose Premium sound system with 10 speakers is fitted, which is new for the entry-grade Q70. The 30GB HDD navigation system comes with RDS
Traffic Message Control (TMC) and the 1CD/DVD reader is compatible with MP3, WMA and DivX formats. There is also a 10GB music box to store albums and songs.

The range-leading Q70 S Premium is fitted with a Bose Premium Sound System which comprises the Bose® Studio Surround® sound system with digital 5.1-channel decoding and 16 speakers, two of which are mounted in the shoulders of each front seat.

Contributing to the cultivated in-car atmosphere of the Q70 S Premium is the Active Noise Control feature, which monitors cabin noise levels and generates “cancelling”
sound from four door speakers to reduce noise, so it’s easier to hold conversations in the car or to better enjoy the music.

Other features include Enhanced Intelligent Key, which remembers last used audio, navigation and climate control settings for each key, Bluetooth® Hands-free Phone
System, dual-zone automatic temperature control, and available next-generation Infiniti Hard Drive Navigation System with eight-inch WVGA colour touch-screen display.

Intelligent performance, composed comfort

Staying true to its roots of sporty precision, the new Q70 is the result of methodical calibration by Infiniti engineers who have used smart technologies to achieve the exact
balance of ride comfort and handling, performance and fuel economy.

Engine – 3.7-litre Petrol V6
Two powerful and highly efficient powertrains are available, starting with the 3.7-litre V6 petrol engine, which is equipped with Variable Valve Event & Lift (VVEL®) that combines hydraulically-controlled variable valve timing and electronically controlled variable valve lift on the intake side to help improve performance and response.

The refined 3.7-litre aluminium-alloy DOHC 24-valve V6 is rated at 235 kW @ 7,000 rpm and 360 Nm of torque @ 5,200 rpm.

The 0-100km/h time for the Q70 fitted with the 3.7-litre petrol V6 is 6.2 seconds.

Combined-cycle fuel consumption (according to ADR 81/02) is 10.2 litres per 100km travelled in the Q70 GT and 10.8 litres per 100km in the range-leading Q70 S Premium.

Engine – 3.5-litre Petrol Hybrid V6
Also available is an award-winning hybrid powertrain featuring the Infiniti Direct Response Hybrid® system with Intelligent Dual Clutch Control.

It combines a 3.5-litre 24-valve DOHC aluminium-alloy V6 and compact laminated lithium-ion battery design with an innovative one-motor/two-clutch motor control. The system’s V6 is rated at 225 kW @ 6,800 rpm and 350 Nm of torque @ 5,000 rpm, while the advanced 50 kW electric motor develops an impressive 290 Nm of torque. Infiniti’s approach to petrol-electric hybrids is to use the electric motor to boost performance and power, much like how a traditional supercharger would function. This gives the Q70 an immediate surge of torque in the low revs before the 3.5-litre V6 kicks in to push the overall power output to 268 kW.

This hybrid powertrain propelled the then Infiniti M® Hybrid into the Guinness World of Records® as the world’s fastest accelerating full-hybrid car in September 2011, and went on to be the only hybrid named in the prestigious “Ward’s 10 Best Engines” list in 2012. Billed as a “driver’s hybrid”, the powertrain delivers speeds that appeal to the sporty driver, and clean power that pleases everyone.

The Q70 GT Premium Hybrid travels from 0-100km/h in 5.3 seconds.

Fuel consumption in the Q70 GT Premium Hybrid is 6.9 litres per 100km (according to ADR 81/02).

Both engines are matched to an advanced seven-speed automatic transmission that features manual mode, which allows for sportier shifts during spirited driving. Solid magnesium paddle shifters are also fitted to the range-leading Q70 S Premium.

The Infiniti Q70 uses a rear-wheel drive configuration.

In line with the focus on the driver, the new Q70 features technologies that enable individuals to customise the driving feel. The unique Infiniti Drive Mode Selector allows drivers to select from four driving modes – Standard, Eco, Sport or Snow – and the integrated control system will adjust throttle sensitivity and transmission mapping to help optimise performance. To encourage eco-driving behaviour, the Eco Driving indicator lamp provides feedback to the driver to assist in optimising fuel use.

Chassis and suspension
The new Q70 uses the advanced Front Mid-ship (FM) platform, which positions the engine behind the front axle, resulting in an optimised front-to-rear weight balance.

Laser welding is carried out at critical locations to help enhance lateral bending stiffness, torsional stiffness and suspension mounting point stiffness.

Precise handling is provided by an independent double-wishbone design at the front and multi-link independent suspension in the rear, along with front and rear stabiliser bars.

The rear suspension geometry has been designed to provide a quiet, comfortable ride. The available double-piston shock absorbers (S Premium) control damping force according to the frequency of input from the road surface for a smoother ride. To increase ride comfort in the new Q70, Infiniti engineers have further tweaked the shock absorbers to respond with greater precision to inconsistences in the road surface so as to minimise uncomfortable “shaking and bobbing” as well as reduce the vibrations when driving on uneven roads.

The Q70 rides on newly designed 18-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels in the GT and GT Premium model grades. The Q70 S Premium is fitted with 20-inch alloy wheels in a fivedouble- spoke design. A temporary spare wheel is fitted to all model grades.

The steering system on the new Q70 is an electronically controlled speed-sensitive variable-assist power rack-and-pinion design. Helping the driver to maintain control of the vehicle at all times is Infiniti’s advanced Vehicle Dynamic Control with Traction Control System. The available Active Trace Control feature also adjusts engine torque and braking at each wheel to help enhance cornering performance.

Advanced safety technologies
Infiniti places maximum value on integral safety, going above and beyond the measures assessed by safety institutions. Central to this strategy is the Infiniti Safety Shield®, a comprehensive approach to safety that offers layered technologies to help provide safety and convenience by monitoring conditions, helping drivers avoid a collision, and helping protect vehicle occupants if one occurs. The Infiniti Safety Shield is fitted to the Q70 S Premium and GT Premium model grades and comprises the following features, six of which are new in the 2016 Q70.

– Predictive Forward Collision Warning system (NEW for Q70)
New to the Infiniti Q70, this new system debuted on the Q50 and warns the driver of risks that lie beyond the driver’s field of view. It can sense not only the relative velocity and distance of a vehicle directly ahead, but also of a vehicle traveling in front of the preceding one.

– Around View® Monitor (NEW for Q70)This system helps takes the hassle out of parallel parking. The feature shows a bird’seye view of the vehicle in relation to parking lines, using four vehicle-mounted cameras
that create a 360-degree view of what surrounds the vehicle and displaying it via the indash screen. The system includes Parking Guidance and Moving Object Detection.

– Moving Object Detection
This is a feature integrated with the Around View® Monitor and alerts the driver to moving objects around the vehicle when pulling out of a parking space or reversing.

– Backup Collision Intervention® (NEW for Q70)
This system is a pioneering technology which intelligently senses what the driver may miss when reversing and can apply the brakes momentarily to help avoid a collision with vehicles and objects crossing its path.

– Forward Emergency Braking (NEW for Q70)
This feature detects danger of collision with a vehicle ahead and warns the driver with visual and audible warnings. If the driver fails to decelerate, the system will apply an emergency brake and decelerate to either help avoid a collision or mitigate the damage if the collision could not be avoided.

– Lane Departure Warning (LDW) and Lane Departure Prevention (LDP) (NEW for Q70)
These two systems help keep the Q70 from unintentionally drifting into an adjacent lane in case the driver is distracted. Using a small camera behind the windscreen to detect lane markers ahead, the technologies calculate the vehicle’s position relative to those lane markers and warn the driver of a potential unintended lane departure with visual and audible cues. If the driver does not steer the vehicle back towards the centre of the lane, the new-for-Q70 LDP system assists the driver with a gentle application of brakes.

– Blind Spot Warning (BSW) and Blind Spot Intervention (BSI) (NEW for Q70)
The driver will also have greater confidence when changing lanes with two technologies that target the blind spots. Blind Spot Warning helps alert the driver to vehicles detected in the blind spot area, while Blind Spot Intervention®, which is new for the Q70, actively intervenes by selectively braking if the driver ignores both visual and audible warnings and attempts to steer into the path of the vehicle in the blind spot.

– Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC) and Distance Control Assist (DCA)
These two features help take the stress out of driving so the driver can arrive at their destination relaxed. The Intelligent Cruise Control covers the vehicle’s full speed range and the Distance Control Assist helps maintain a set distance from the car ahead.
