Australian actress Phoebe Tonkin was today announced as the new face of the 2017 Alfa Romeo Portsea Polo Marquee.

The seventeenth annual Portsea Polo takes place on the Mornington Peninsula on Saturday, January 14, with Alfa Romeo the official naming rights sponsor for its first year and the Australian debut of the all-new Giulia Quadrifoglio high-performance sedan headlining the event.

Acclaimed Australian actress and Hollywood IT Girl Phoebe Tonkin is excited to be the new face of the 2017 Alfa Romeo Portsea Polo Marquee and is looking forward to attending the prestigious event, which opens Victoria’s sporting and social calendar for the year.

“I’m really excited to join Alfa Romeo for the day and this is my first time attending the Polo in Australia and my first time down to Portsea” said Tonkin.

“I’m looking forward seeing the newly debuted Alfa Romeo Giulia, the amazing Australian fashion, and getting to experience all the fun of the polo from the Alfa Romeo marquee.” she said.

Zac Loo, Marketing Director of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) Australia, said he’s thrilled to have Phoebe Tonkin as the 2017 face of the Alfa Romeo Portsea Polo.

“We are delighted to have Phoebe Tonkin as this year’s face, bringing her stylish and sophisticated air to our marquee as we celebrate the launch of the all-new Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio,” Mr Loo said.

“The 2017 Portsea Polo is the ideal venue to relaunch the storied Alfa Romeo brand in Australia,” said Mr Loo. “Set in an idyllic location, the Portsea Polo exemplifies passion, performance and style; qualities at the core of every Alfa Romeo car.”

Over 400 VIP guests will be hosted in the exclusive Alfa Romeo Marquee at the Portsea Polo for this spectacular summer event, which will form the first public viewing of the all-new Giulia Quadrifoglio, the world’s fastest sports sedan, for drivers who demand passion and style in their cars.

This year’s Alfa Romeo hero marquee is set to reflect the luxury brand’s Italian heritage, embodying a premium sense of Italian style and sophistication synonymous with Alfa Romeo.

Alfa Romeo Australia is pleased to announce the highly-anticipated Giulia QV sports sedan will be priced at $143,900 MSRP when it goes on sale in Australia from 16 February.

This sharp price means that the 100-plus Australians who have already placed an order for the Alfa Romeo Giulia QV have not only secured a relative performance bargain, they will be driving the car that resets performance benchmarks in its class.

The Alfa Romeo Giulia QV’s potent Ferrari-inspired twin-turbo V6 engine gives this stylish and spirited Italian thoroughbred the best power-to-weight ratio. Combined with Alfa Romeo’s ongoing commitment to weight optimisation – carbonfibre is used extensively through the car – and cutting-edge aerodynamics, the Giulia QV has the performance credentials to crush its rivals.

The Alfa Romero Giulia QV is the current production sedan king of the fearsome Nurburgring. In September, the Giulia QV set a scorching laptime of 7min 32sec, making it the fastest four door production vehicle ever – faster  than rivals costing many tens of thousands more.

The Alfa Romeo Giulia QV can accelerate from rest to 100km/h in 3.9 seconds and has a top speed of 305km/h.

The Giulia’s potent engine is the most prodigious in its class for specific power, its 375kW coming from just 2.9 litres capacity. It is teamed with a quick-shifting 8-speed automatic transmission that has the smarts to preload downshifts if the driver flicks the paddle before revs have dropped sufficiently for a lower gear.

The engine also features cylinder deactivation to save fuel, making it the most fuel efficient car in its class, with a European combined economy figure of just 8.2L/100km.

The Giulia QV also features active aerodynamics, another first for its class. The front splitter lowers at speed to create best-in-class downforce in all conditions.

The Giulia QV arrives standard with a torque vectoring system – integrated into the technologically advanced chassis domain control – heralding an ability to improve agility of the vehicle, safety, traction, improved steering response, and vehicle handling attitude.

The Giulia QV’s next generation DNA Pro dynamic drive system tailors the Giulia QV’s suspension, steering, drivetrain, and exhaust note to deliver the best of both worlds: Scintillating performance when you need it and refined comfort when you don’t.

This all-new Alfa Romeo will come handsomely equipped with 19-inch forged alloy wheels, bi-xenon headlamps with Adaptive Front Lighting System (AFLS) and automatic high beam, Forward Collision Warning with Autonomous Emergency Brake and pedestrian awareness, blind-spot monitoring, lane departure warning and active cruise control.

Like the exterior, the Giulia QV’s interior evokes the twin themes of passion and premium performance typically the preserve of thoroughbred Italian supercars. The leather-wrapped surfaces throughout feature contrast stitching, along with aluminium and carbonfibre highlights.

The leather and Alcantara front sports seats are eight-way, electrically adjustable, and generously bolstered to help occupants withstand the Giulia QV’s prodigious cornering prowess.

Premium appointments include a Harmon Kardon 14-speaker sound system, and a bespoke 8.8-inch multimedia screen housing the entertainment system, satellite navigation and climate air-conditioning controls – easily accessed via a centrally mounted rotary dial with integrated handwriting recognition pad.

The Alfa Romeo Giulia QV will make its Australian debut at the Alfa Romeo Portsea Polo on January 14, 2017.

Australians keen to secure their very own Giulia, the automotive embodiment of Italian passion, performance and style, should register their interest at AlfaRomeo.com.au.
